STRATEGIC IMPACT

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................
This Easy Line + Project focuses on the population of age 65 and higher (elderly people and very elderly people), which currently represents a 15,7% of the EU25 and with the forecast of being more than a 30% by 2030. Roughly speaking, 42% of them carry out home tasks, and 70% deal with some degree of disabilities.

The Easy Line + Project will have a clear impact on society from the very beginning. The results of the project are aimed at contributing to solve a crucial social problem: the e-inclusion of elderly people, by developing ICT systems that are easy to use by any people.

Technological developments on this field will allow European companies to lead the worldwide market against American and Japanese companies on a sector that expects an important growing in the following years.

INNOVATION RELATED ACTIVITIES
.........................................................................................................................................................................................................

The success of any technological project as Easy Line + has to take into account two important aspects, success on achievement of technological objectives and acceptance of innovation and results in the market

End-users involvement. Participation of key stakeholders on the specific definition of requirements (see letters of interest of regional and national organisations of elderly and disabled people, agreements with public authorities). Continuous monitoring of technological developments through accessibility evaluation. Validation of final results on real scenarios with real end-users.

Standardization. Activities in the framework of this Easy Line + Project might influence both accessibility and technical standards. This will be achieved by SBS that participates in many standardisation bodies and groups.

Dissemination. All partners intend to undertake dissemination activities (e.g. papers, articles, website).
Further information is provided below in the dissemination plan.

Knowledge protection. Project partners are very sensitive to knowledge protection, especially the industrial ones, so it will ensure that opportunities to seek IP protection will not be missed.

Development of Exploitation Plans. BSH in co-operation with IDENT and ADSS, will develop the exploitation plans where further steps for fully commercialising project results.

EXPLOITATIONS AND DISSEMINATION PLANS
........................................................................................................................................................................................................

A specific workpackage (WP 8 Dissemination and exploitation) has been designed to cover dissemination and other innovation-related activities, so it can be consulted for a more detailed description of diffusion activities.

Scientific dissemination. UNIZAR and NEWI will disseminate the project results through congresses and articles in scientific magazines, related to neuronal networks, HMI, and Accessibility Technology. As relevant R and D they will also use the networks where they participate to disseminate the project results, like: EUD-NET Network of Excellence which puts special emphasis in the end-user benefits and considers the difficulty of achieving the needs for all users, IP Amigo (Ambient Intelligence for the networked home environment) project, IP MonAmi (Mainstreaming on AMbient Intelligence) project in process of contract negotiation with the EC.

Standards dissemination: The ISO working group Ergonomics for People with Special Requirements is preparing a complementary document for ISO Guide 71 (Guidelines for Standards Developers to Address the Needs of Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities). This document is intended as an amendment to the DIN Technical Report 124 (Products in Design for All), which was developed in previous years and submitted as a basic paper.

End Users dissemination: Some organisations of end users have already signed a letter of interest in the project and they will participate in the requirements definition and in the validation. These organisations also disseminate the project results between their members and also between the networks that they belong to of similar organisations.

Industrial partners exploitation (BSHE-E, ADSS and IDENT) will be to make business by providing final products or components for consumers.

Service operators exploitation is to make business by providing advanced consultancy services for the growing sector of elderly and disabled people.

Final installers exploitation (G2V) is to make business by installing of technological components and providing maintenance services for them.

Other academic partners (UNIZAR and NEWI) will mainly have a dissemination and scientific role.
