The EASY LINE+ project is currently entering an interesting and vital stage. The various components involved: the kitchen appliances, RFID tags, sensors, communications systems, e-servant, neural network intelligence and the user interfaces, are all about to be put together in the integration phase.  A working prototype will be demonstrated in July.

> 2007.09.27 > Successful Workshop Held

The first of the EASY LINE+ workshops on ‘Technologies for Assisted Living (TfAL) was held on 27th September in Wrexham. NEWI’s Centre for Applied Internet Research (CAIR) welcomed participants from a rich array of backgrounds in the community, including local authorities, carers, medical experts and academics.

The workshop focused on various issues including telecare, homes for life, smart home technologies, and technology to support vulnerable people with a range of needs.  Whilst most of the discussion concentrated on the needs of elderly people, there was still valuable consideration of the requirements for disabled people. Specific topics included: Sensory impairment, Cognitive needs, Well-being, Physical disabilities, Affordable Telecare and Everyday living

There was lots of entertaining and lively debate, and all participants expressed an interest to continue the links made on the day. A newsletter was produced following the event as the first step towards building such links.

 e-Inclusion experiences

Share your e-Inclusion experiences; discuss what's needed with other stakeholders; see what is happening in other countries. Realising the European e-Inclusion objectives is a challenge, to say the least.  It requires rich information, sense-making and understanding, imagination, dedication, cooperation and sharing.  We have therefore decided to support this by setting up an experimental, wiki-based website where sharing and cooperation can be stimulated. You will find reports about national experiences and state-of-play, discussions on specific e-inclusion themes, and - hopefully - a lot of other interesting things to discover. You are invited to share your creativity and experience at http://www.ipolicy.eu and help bring closer the participation of all in economy and society with the help of information and communication technology.
